Playing cat and mouse with html email

September 13, 2007 – 4:18 pm

I created the visual below for an html email for an IT recruitment website.

HTML email mouse

It was sent out to 20,000 email addresses and was very successful.

They came back to me and asked me to come up with a follow up html email. I racked my brains. I thought of all the mouse clichés I could. Finally I came up with this one that they quite liked.

HTML email cat

The problem is I’ve got to come up with a third!

  2. I’d be tempted to use a mouse in a wheel (like in their cages) with a slogan like ‘put your mouse to a better use’, something like that anyways.

  6. Nice! But here I have an idea to give to you. It actually happens in the reality. My house actually very clean but don’t know why there is one day a mouse come inside my house.. And guess what? The wire of my computer “mouse” was teared by the real mouse. I was speechless that time. Maybe the mouse is jealous about the “mouse” :)

  8. it’s a great concept. I like it very much. However, maybe try to make the cat looks more interested to the mouse. Maybe that will make the image more funny and appealing.

  9. You mean the cat should be looking at the mouse, but the mouse should be looking straight ahead? I think that’s a good point.

  11. When you think about technology definitely mouse refers to a device that allows us to point a particular icon on the website. However, When I see a REAL MOUSE I gonna shout it loudly

  12. I used to get non techie teachers ask me “what do you say for the plural of these kinds of mice?” to which I would reply with a straight face “mouses”.

  13. Well it looks like this mouse has really put the cat amongst the pigeons.
    @Sharm, I hope you aren’t getting anymore visitations of this kind, and thanks for the compliment.
    @H Word, me too!
    @Andy, The Compact Oxford English Dictionary (third edition) and the fourth edition of The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language endorse both computer mice and computer mouses as correct plural forms for computer mouse.(I got that from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mouse_%28computing%29#Etymology )
